Step 1: Discover Your Passion
Westinghouse Arts Academy offers time and opportunities for students to explore artistic interests. The choice is yours!
- In 9th and 10th grade, you’ll dive into foundational and intro courses that let you try out different arts disciplines. You’ll be able to explore a variety of arts courses and discover your passions and abilities.
- Each year, you’ll also have the chance to choose electives to explore even more interests. Plus, every grade includes a seminar where you can explore career paths and start planning for life after high school.
Step 2: Choose Your Program
Students in grades 9-12 choose an area to focus on, from 6 Programs:
- 🩰 Dance offers technical training and performance opportunities in a variety of techniques.
- 📸 Digital Arts offers graphic and digital design training using the latest technology.
- 📖 Literary Arts provides writers with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of composition styles.
- 🎤 Music nurtures talented singers and musicians through training and performance opportunities.
- 🎨 Studio Arts offers training in traditional visual mediums: drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media.
- 💃Theatre is an award-winning program that trains performing artists in acting, voice, dance and technical theatre.
Step 3: Dive In!
Once you’ve picked your Major, you’ll spend your time focusing on your artistic and academic growth.
- Westinghouse Arts faculty are industry-connected, bringing real world experience directly into our classrooms.
- Portfolio reviews, master classes, mentorships, and other exciting experiences inspire our students to prepare for their next steps after graduation.
